About Me

Lise
Retired from a career in early childhood education for nearly a decade, my interests and enthusiasms grow ever more rampant. I used to think if I let my creativity take over, it would make me crazy, and I was right. But I’m loving the madness, scary as it is. I garden with abandon in semi-rural Bonny Doon, California (part of Santa Cruz, which is north of Monterey, south of San Francisco). We raise a few chickens. I write an overly-lengthy and highly idiosyncratic newsletter for The Gardeners’ Club here. I do welded metal sculptures from found metal and other “stuff”; I dabble in tin can art; recently I’ve taken up clay sculpture. With grandchildren in the Portland area and an elderly mother in Southern California, I travel to see and care for family. Oh, yes – my husband Cliff and I are birders. We have done some exciting international birding – to Africa, Australia, South America, Vietnam, etc. – but we’re taking some time off from these trips to catch up on the rest of life. Not that I believe that will ever happen, the catching up part, but there is much to do, and it’s nice making home our focus for a while.
